As a September 16 of 2009, Kohls.com is having great deals and for every $50 you spend you get $10 kohls cash that can be used to buy anything at the store even discounted items. You can take advantage of this promo at your nearest kohls store or online. Check their clearance items http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/clearance up to 80% off and you can find your favorire brands at a very low price. The best thing about Kohls is their return policy is so forgiving...
You can find something for anyone in the family. I prefer to go to the nearest store and shop, but in the winter I do a lot of online shopping.

Free Recipes for Skin Discolorations (age spots, acne marks, etc..)

If you want your lotion to address a specific skin condinion such as skin discolorations due to age spots, acne marks or sun damage... You can use the recipe for the Easy lotion that I already posted or buy any lotion at your convenient store (drugstores, walmart, target, etc...). I personally like making my own, so I know what's in it and stay away from parabens, skin irritants and other possible harming solvents that most lotions have. Anyways once you have your 4 oz of lotion you need to get the following active ingredients:
  1. 1/2 tsp Niacinamide powder ( These is the recommended amount, I personally do a full tsp of each)
  2. 1 tsp N-Acetyl Glucosamine

You will mix them in the distilled water before adding to the rest of the mix. If you are using a store bought lotion I would recommend you dissolve it first in glycerine instead of water, so the consistency of the lotion doesn't change much. You can buy glycerine at any walmart and some groceries store carry it too, or buy it online.

It has been shown that the use of both ingredients together, N-Acetyl Glucosamine and Niacinamide can increase collagen production and significantly reduced hyperpigmentation, age spots, and uneven melanin distribution. You will be amazed by the results, but make sure to use a sunblock or stay away from the sun for better results.

*** Always do a patch test before putting them on the face.

*** Niacinamide is not recommended for people with Parkinson disease. If pregnant ask your doctor first.

You can get these ingredients from the online stores I mentioned before, I personally prefer to buy my active ingredients from Beyond A Century and sometimes from Bulkactives.com (but they are in China, shipping takes a little longer but they are reliable) their supplements and/or ingredients are sold in a very pure form and their prices are good.

Free Easy Lotion Recipe Do It Yourself!

Make your own lotion or cream, whatever is best for your skin

Creams are thicker than lotions and are better for normal to dry skin.
Before starting, we need to make sure that your work area is clean. Perfectly clean the counters and stovetop area with bleach water. Boil your equipment or wash it really good then wipe it with rubbing alcohol. Make sure to wear plastic gloves when creating your lotions.

Equipment

Stick blender, Glass or Stainless Steel mixing bowls and pots [do not use aluminum or Teflon coated equipment], small spatula for scraping lotion/cream out of bowls, bottle or jar for your lotion, microwave or stove (I prefer microwave, so much easier and faster), Pyrex measuring cup for microwave or double boiler pots for stove top.

I like to buy my bottles off ebay or http://www.bayousome.com/white.htm since I buy many at the time, but when i need only a couple I get then from walmart or the dollar store, the only thing that they are 4 oz bottles but you can just use two. I like making lotion with different waxes, one of my favorite wax is mango butter, but I also use shea butter, cocoa amongst others. Since we are making an emulsion we need Emulsifying wax, I buy most my ingredients from gardenofwisdom.com they have all kinds of waxes, oils and additives for your lotions, I also buy ingredients off Ebay and the lotioncrafter.com. The stearic acid makes the lotion a little creamier and adds a soft feeling to it. One of the oil i really recommend is the rose hip seed oil it's properties are amazing and it is not greasy at all. I must add that I have no conection with any of the companies mentioned above, I do not work for them nor i know them, I am just a person that likes to shop around.

If you want your lotion to last longer use preservative, the one i like to use is Germal plus because its paraben free.

Ingredients for 8 oz lotion
  1. 1oz Glycerin
  2. 1 oz Stearic Acid
  3. 1 oz Emulsifying Wax NF or Polawax
  4. 2 oz Sweet Almond or Jojoba Oil or 1 oz of each
  5. 3 oz distilled water
  6. 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E (additive)
  7. 1/2 teaspoon fragrance oil (optional)
  8. 0.5 grams of preservative (powder form)

Measure out first 5 ingredients and put into a 2 cup glass measuring cup. Microwave 2 1/2 minutes or until solid ingredients are melted. Blend with stick blender until fully blended. Add preservative and fragrance oil and blend until incorporated. Pour into an 8 oz container and seal tightly.

Make sure to check comments for additional information on making your own lotion.

Getting started

I first wanted to learn how to sew, but of course I was not going to be able to pay for classes. So, I hit a few garage sales and found me a sewing machine, It was not the best looking one but it worked. It took me a several tries to figure out how the thread and needle go but I kinda got it going and It was a little frustrating not being able to do a straight line; so I used a pencil to trace a faint line and followed it, it really healped. I had some fabric from the same garage sale, so I only needed a pattern or idea. I went to walmart and ended up buying more cheap fabric and a pattern. The pattern was easy to follow, I also read online about tension, so the fabric wouldn't gathered and looked like shirred fabric or so.
I wasted a few yarns of fabric and gave up a couple times but kept going back, until I was able to make something that would actually not shoke my little girl.
After learning how to sew, I wanted to learn how to make beaty products such as lotions, soaps, masks, etc...
There are so many resources outthere that I was amazed of how easy it was layed out for me.
I started looking into natural, organic and effective ingredients to help with skin discolorations, aging and other skin conditions. I think the first site I visited was activeingredients.com they have all kids of ingredients, recipes and feedback from other people as well as very good information, but some biased of course, so you really have to sift through all that. Another good source is garden of wisdom forum amongst others.
Once I got ingredients and stuff I started experimenting with them and of course researching them and making sure there were no side effects or other issues. At the same time my little girl Celeste had a terrible skin rash that had lasted for months, my little girls was itching so bad and scratching like crazy, so she was getting nasty sores that would bleed and leave ugly scars all over her legs, some on arms. We went to se 3 different dermatologist, tried all kind of antibiotics, creams, etc.. nothing would work, anyways I made her a lotion with ingredients that would target itchiness, wound healing and scarring, thank God it worked after only a few days her sores were gone and after 3 weeks she was wearing shorts and i could not see any scars. This episode made me feel more confident so I started making other types of lotions, I even sold them on Ebay and made decent money from doing so. I was able to get rid of all my age and acne spots, my skin hasn't looked so clear and healthy in years...
